Portrait of a Graduate 2030
In 2020, we launched our Oak Ridge 黄瓜视频 Portrait of a Graduate, and it has been embedded in our buildings and guided our work at every level for the last five years. During that time, our school district has reached new heights, including the highest-possible national, state and regional recognitions. Understanding that so much has changed in the technology, education and labor markets, we are excited to revisit our Portrait and take stock of where we need to adjust the barometer that gauges how we’re preparing our students for success in their modern-day post-secondary lives.
We are launching our first of two surveys, and have designed it to be open-ended so that we can garner initial feedback without unintentionally leading or guiding the responses based on our own assumptions or perspectives. After this round of surveying, we will compile the responses to create a second survey that asks you to rank—in order of importance—the feedback we received from the first survey.
We are humbly asking staff, students, parents, families, community members and business leaders to complete this brief survey to assist in the development of Portrait of a Graduate 2030. Your feedback is invaluable, and together we can ensure our graduates remain uniquely prepared for college, career and life success for years to come, even in a rapidly changing landscape.
Prior to taking the survey, we welcome you to review our original Portrait below to better understand the purpose and guiding principles behind creating and updating a Portrait of an Oak Ridge 黄瓜视频 Graduate.
ORS Portrait of a Graduate (2020)
Launched in 2020, the Portrait of a Graduate is a collective commitment from our school administrators, staff, families and community that advances our strategic plan 2020 and seven keys initiatives well beyond 2020. As a community, we identified together key competencies we are committed to instill in our students as they move through our system from pre-k, to elementary, to middle, to high school and into life past graduation. We wish to work together to connect the dots and communicate together the hopes, dreams and aspirations for all oak ridge students.
Let’s take a high-level look at our Portrait of a Graduate model, how it embodies the whole child, and how it progresses beginning with preschool skills and culminates in real world preparedness skills.

At the top of our model, we have an icon of a student representing our why, our vision to ensure every oak ridge student is prepared for college, career and life success.
The diploma icon represents the credentials needed to ensure students are college and career ready.
The four hands are symbolic of interpersonal skills represented in the Four C’s : collaboration, communication, creativity and critical thinking.
The crossroads icon symbolizes career options, illustrating multiple points of entry and exit into the workforce and education.
The code block represents a digital citizen, who is ready to work in an ever-changing economy.
The target icon signifies honing in on life-readiness goals such as self-awareness, self-discipline and empathy.
