{"id":2811,"date":"2019-01-25T11:57:07","date_gmt":"2019-01-25T16:57:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ortn.edu\/jefferson\/?p=2811"},"modified":"2019-01-25T12:02:59","modified_gmt":"2019-01-25T17:02:59","slug":"geography-bee-winners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ortn.edu\/jefferson\/2019\/01\/25\/geography-bee-winners\/","title":{"rendered":"Geography Bee Winners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over 500 Jefferson Middle School students competed in this year\u2019s National Geographic Bee qualifying round, which was then narrowed down to the top 35-\u00a0 5<sup>th<\/sup>, 6<sup>th<\/sup>, 7<sup>th<\/sup>, and 8<sup>th<\/sup> graders. The Bee was held at JMS on Wednesday, January 23<sup>rd<\/sup>. Congratulations to the following students for finishing top in their class in the Bee:<\/p>\n<p>Mary Pyle, 5<sup>th<\/sup> grade<\/p>\n<p>William Shen, 6<sup>th<\/sup> grade<\/p>\n<p>David Wilson, 7<sup>th<\/sup> grade<\/p>\n<p>The two finalists were narrowed down to 8<sup>th<\/sup> graders Ashley Godfrey and Ella Kendall. The final question was, \u201cFebruary 2019 marks the start of the Alpine World Ski Championships. This competition will be held in <strong>which country<\/strong> that is the most populous in Scandinavia?\u201d\u00a0 Congratulations to the new JMS Geographic Bee Champion, Ella Kendall for correctly answering, \u201cSweden.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A big thank you to Ms. Haverkamp and Coach Reddick for serving as judges.
