Tickets are $5 and will be on-sale in the lobby area during lunch this week and at the door. Buy a ticket early and you get coupons for free food from places like Chick-fil-a, Salsaritas, and Which Which along! At the dance, we&#8217;ll have food, a DJ, and fun prizes for the best costumes! Open to all ORHS students with a valid student ID. Be there, or beware! (M,W,F) \u2013 D. Sobek<\/p>\n<p>Oak Ridge High School will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week October 23-27 to raise awareness and prevent drug use in our school and in the Oak Ridge community. The Oak Ridge City Council recently passed a Proclamation designating the week as Red Ribbon Week throughout the Oak Ridge Community. This is an national event that takes place each October to illustrate a commitment to and support of the continuous fight against drug use. Our theme for the week is \u201cYour Future Is Key, So Stay Drug Free\u00ae\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0 The ASAP Youth Ambassadors will be selling Red Ribbons to support the effort and there will be information about Red Ribbon Week on the announcements each morning throughout the week! Let\u2019s work together to prevent drug use\/abuse at Oak Ridge High School!<\/p>\n<p>DID YOU KNOW &#8211; Did you know Red Ribbon Week is the nation\u2019s oldest and largest drug prevention awareness campaign with over 80 million people participating each year? Red Ribbon Week started after the death of Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent Enrique \u201cKiki\u201d Camarena, who in 1985 was brutally murdered by drug traffickers he was investigating in Mexico? After his death, people wanted to honor his sacrifice. Local celebrations began in California \u2013 where Camarena grew up \u2013 in 1985, and in 1988 the National Family Partnership started the first National Red Ribbon Week. Remember: \u201cYour Future Is Key, So Stay Drug Free\u00ae\u201d (M) \u2013 J. Laurendine<\/p>\n<p>The PSAT test will be on Wednesday, October 25<sup>th<\/sup>. \u00a0Testing room rosters will be posted outside of the counseling office, outside of the library and by the bus loop on Tuesday. This test is only for 10<sup>th<\/sup> and 11<sup>th<\/sup> graders that registered to take the PSAT. (10\/20-10\/24) \u2013 B. The United States Senate Youth Program offers an annual Washington Week event in March, which includes a variety of events that promote a unique understanding of the structure of our national government. The Hearst Foundation also offers selected state finalists a $10,000 undergraduate scholarship.
