Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

 

STUDENT INFO

 

Picture makeups and retakes for 9th-11th graders and all faculty and staff members will be Friday, September 12th   in the B-Gym.  Students will be called down by last name. Pictures will be taken from 8-2pm.  Teachers: If you have 5th block plan and need your photo taken you will want to do so at the very beginning of 5th.

 

The tradition continues. It’s time for the Senior Shirt Design Contest—the shirt that every senior gets to sign. Please submit your designs for the Class of 2026 Senior Shirt to Mrs. Ledden in Room CS347 by Thursday, September 18. You do not have to be a senior to submit designs for the shirt—open to all grade levels.

 

Calling all students! Do you want to help plan prom? Applications for the prom board are now open to freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors! Come by Mrs. Royster’s room VA 102, anytime, to pick up an application. Let’s start planning next year’s unforgettable prom together! (If you already picked up and completed an application at the end of the last school year, you do not need to resubmit.)

 

Attention all Sophomores and Juniors: The PSAT/NMSQT is an OPTIONAL test that will be offered to 10th and 11th graders at Oak Ridge High School on Tuesday, October 21st at 7:50 a.m.  The test should end by 1:00 p.m. and the food court will be open at that time for students that take the test to eat lunch.  The online registration and payment portal will open next Monday and close on Tuesday, September 9th. Register and pay at aptsusa.com/oakridge.  The cost is $20. No refunds are available if you do not take the test.  A limited number of exams are available. Please sign up by the September 9th deadline.

 

A recruiter from the Army National Guard will be in the Counseling Office immediately after school on Thursday, September 4th to share programs available to graduates.

 

WOW—also known as Walk Over Wednesday is at St. Stephen’s Church every Wednesday!  Juniors and Seniors with off campus lunch can enjoy a meal for just $3.  it’s a great deal!  Come enjoy a “homemade meal”.

 

CLUB INFO

FCA will meet on Friday morning, September 5th, at 7:00 AM!!  We will meet at Grace Baptist-Oak Ridge Campus (formerly Central Baptist) – the same meeting location as last week!  The location is directly across the street from the bus loop and arena at the high school.  Doors open and refreshments begin at 7:00, and a message will begin at approximately 7:10.  We will dismiss by 7:35.  All are welcome!!!  If you have any questions, contact Coach McKeethan (football/baseball coach).

 

Interested in Magic, the Gathering? Trading Card Club will hold its first meeting of the year in Mr. van Eek’s room, CS237, on Monday, September 8th until 5 pm. Commander decks are available to borrow, and no experience is necessary.

 

Cooler weather is finally here! That means it’s time for motorcycles! Come to the first meeting of the Motorcycle Club Thursday, 9/11 during 3A in Ms Fairfax’s room, LC210. Come by early to pick up your permission form!

 

All students interested in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), please attend the informational meeting immediately after school today in CS347. Refreshments will be served. The meeting will end prior to 2:30.

 

 

SENIORS

 

Seniors: Picture makeups/retakes are September 11 and September 12 in the B-gym.  These will be for the cap/gown and formal poses only. You MUST sign up to schedule your makeup or retake session using the link posted in parent square by end of day, September 9th.

When signing up, if you are doing a retake and have already paid a sitting fee, in the comments please write “retake.”

If you know you will not be purchasing a photo package and just wish to have your picture taken for the yearbook, choose the “mini” package.  You will not need to pay a sitting fee even though it says payment will be due at the time of the photo.

 

The 2025 QuestBridge National College Match for high school seniors is now open!  QuestBridge is a college partner program to find FULLfour-year scholarships to the nation’s top colleges for high-achieving students from low-income backgrounds.  Visit questbridge.org to learn more about the program and to apply!! Deadline for applications is Sept. 30th!!
